Final stage of Reading M.A.S. Wantage Road and Challow SBs closed. Track Circuit Block (TCB) introduced between Reading Panel (Wantage Road) and Uffington SB with 4-character train describer. Facing crossover provided to supplement existing trailing one (note both of these replaced when reversible installed in July 1980 and January 1981). All remaining mechanical signals at Uffington removed. New GF at Wantage Road (released from Reading PSB) and Challow (released from Uffington SB). [1]
