Articles about Control Functions should aim to include as much of the following as possible:

In the main index page:

  • Signals listed as "SN.444"
  • Where a signal has a repeater, outer repeater, banner repeater these listed in the same cell separated by commas: "SN.444, SN.444R, SN.444RR"
  • Points listed as a number with no prefix or suffix: "444"
  • Ground Frame releases shown in the same cell as the points, with R suffix "444, 444R". The latter part linking straight to the relevant Ground Frame page
  • Slots shown as a number with no prefix and the word SLOT: "444 SLOT"

In the individual function pages:

The top of the page should have a link back to the Control Functions list.


For points:

  • Description of the location (miles and chains)
  • Description of the function of the points (ie, Up Main to Up Goods)
  • Interlocking area
  • Method of control - motorised, ground frame, sprung, etc
  • Date commissioned
  • Date controlled onto Swindon Panel (if the interlocking pre-dates the panel)
  • Date taken out of use
  • (If dates not available, then dates known to be in existence, or not in existence)


For signals:

Inclusion of the template {{Template:SignalDetails}}, this includes:

  • Type of signal - Main Aspect, Subsidiary, etc
  • Form of signal - Colour Light, Ground Position Light, etc.
  • Number of aspects
  • Line
  • Working - Controlled, Automatic, etc
  • Interlocking area
  • Mileage of the signal(miles and chains)
  • Mounting
  • Date commissioned
  • Date controlled onto Swindon Panel (if the interlocking pre-dates the panel)
  • Date taken out of use
  • (If dates not available, then dates known to be in existence, or not in existence)
  • Whether the signal has been known by another name in the past.

For Ground Frame Release:

  • Do not create a page, link straight to the Ground Frame page.
