Articles about Control Functions should aim to include as much of the following as possible:

The top of the page should have a link back to the Control Functions list.

For points:

  • Description of the location (miles and chains)
  • Description of the function of the points (ie, Up Main to Up Goods)
  • Interlocking area
  • Method of control - motorised, ground frame, sprung, etc
  • Date commissioned
  • Date controlled onto Swindon Panel (if the interlocking pre-dates the panel)
  • Date taken out of use
  • (If dates not available, then dates known to be in existence, or not in existence)


For signals:

  • Description of the location (miles and chains)

    • Aspects
    • Junction indicators
    • Route indicators
    • Subsidiary Indications
  • Purpose of the signal - what it protects, etc
  • Interlocking area
  • Controlled or automatic
  • Date commissioned
  • Date controlled onto Swindon Panel (if the interlocking pre-dates the panel)
  • Date taken out of use
  • (If dates not available, then dates known to be in existence, or not in existence)
  • Whether the signal has been known by another name in the past.
