Although the HSTs ran at 125 the key design elements of those sets was that they sat within the same braking parameters as traction and rolling stock of the previous generation which was permitted 100 mph. The standard braking tables still reflect this fact as the braking distance between 100 and 120 remains constant. The 1967 aspect sequence charts are predicated on 100 miles an hour and the HSTs would comfortably sit within this specification.
