This signal was installed in connection with the original scheme for Kemble to be a passing place on the single line. It was removed in September 1970, having never been brought into use.
The signal would have been applicable to up trains in the down platform. SN.149, in rear, was fitted with a JI for a route towards this signal that was never brought into use and was removed at the same time.
