There used to be a [[Wootton_Bassett_Goods_Ground_Frame | ground frame]] controlling points in the loop, giving access to a siding between the Up Goods and the Up Badminton.

Background

The loop provides holding facilities for trains from the Badminton Line heading towards Swindon. It isn't accessible from the Main Line, although it does run alongside the Up Main line for part of its length. It existed long before the advent of MAS and still exists today.

There used to be a ground frame controlling points in the loop, giving access to a siding between the Up Goods and the Up Badminton.

Extension of Up Goods Loop

401 points were relaid and the useable length of the Up Goods Loop was extended by 68 yards in December 1978:
