Conversion from semi-automatic to automatic
The signal was converted from semi-automatic to automatic when Hay Lane Ground Frame was recovered in January 1974.
Removal
Over the weekend 3-5 May 1977 the signal was removed as part of the re-spacing of signals between Swindon and Wootton Bassett. SN.50 was moved further from Swindon, as was the next signal DM.79. DM.80 was removed, leaving one fewer signal section overall.
