Back to Control Functions.

This signal was newly installed in connection with the South Marston connection described in GWS.15 and GWS.27.

First Attempt

The signal was planned to be brought into use on 14 February 2000, as described in GWS.15. However, the work was not brought into use due to 'construction difficulties':

Second Attempt

The signal was then planned to be brought into use on 11 February 2002.

but wasn't until 18 February 2002....

and even when it was finally brought into use on Monday 18 February 2002, only its straight ahead route was brought into use. Its route towards the Up Main (reversible) was brought into use on 4 March 2002, and its route towards South Marston Euroterminal was not brought into use.
