Description

This set of points was a trailing crossover between the Up and Down Main Lines at Swindon West.

It was one of a number of crossovers that facilitated parallel moves between platform 3 and the Down Main, and the Up Main and platform 1. This was very necessary in the days before the new Platform 4 was commissioned.

Abolition

The points were taken out of use at 05.15 on Monday 3 December 2007.

No signals lost routes to other signals altogether, but some signals that previously had more than one route to the same destination lost one of their options.

SN.42 had its only route to the Down Main altered from via 363 to via 366.

The removal of these points (and no additional of an alternative route from platform 3 to the Down Main via 357 points reverse), meant the ability to carry out parallel moves between platform 3 and the Down Main, and the Up Main / Relief and platform 1 was lost, with all trains now requiring to use a single lead connection.

The points were removed altogether two weeks later at 05.15 on Monday 17 December 2007:
